Career Services

The Art Institute of York, Pennsylvania takes a very active role in the job search process. The Art Institute of York, Pennsylvania maintains a Graduate Services office to assist students and graduates in their job search. In the final term, all students take a Professional Development or Career Skills course tailored to their career field. This course includes instruction about the job search process, including interview techniques, resume preparation and portfolio presentation.

Student skills are showcased to area employers at portfolio and fashion shows as well as to faculty review panels. Our commitment to the community allows students to use their skills doing projects for area nonprofit organizations. Frequently this work is later included in portfolios or on resumes. Wondering how your creative education will transform into the career that you envision? The Career Services Department at The Art Institute of York, Pennsylvania prides itself on partnering with students and graduates to seek appropriate employment during all stages of your education. This partnership may include helping you find part-time employment while you’re in school, landing an internship toward the end of your program of study, and helping you pursue full-time employment in your field after graduation.

If you make the effort to attend and participate in Career Services sponsored events such as guest lectures, lunchtime workshops, site visits or mock interview exercises, then you’re already well on your way to a successful employment search when it’s time to graduate.

Armed with your body of best work in a traditional portfolio, CD ROM, demo reel or Web site, you can work closely with a Career Services Advisor to match your skills and abilities with the needs of industry employers. In addition, Career Services Advisors can provide help with writing your resume and cover letters and building your interviewing skills through mock interviews. Also, as part of graduation, our quarterly Portfolio Review shows give you the opportunity to present your work to potential industry employers who attend.
